Wedding Woes

When I sat down to write this email I honestly had no idea what to write. What even happened this week? It felt like almost nothing happened, just suddenly the week was over. But after pondering for a few minutes I concluded that stuff did happen this week. And as usual I am here to write about it.

The beginning of the week we started working on the marriage process for some of our couples. We ran into some problems almost immediatly.
We met up with one of our friends that needed to get married, we would be working to get her cedula, which basically proves that she has parents and is Mozambican. She literally has NO documents so we needed to start at the beginning. We expected some problems because she is like 30 and we would trying to get a document that you are supposed to get when you are like 3 months old.
After waiting a while for the bus we got on and headed to the registry, (and of course the bus was packed). We got there and after finding the right room we waited to talk to someone. Eventually a man (that was clearly higher up) came to talk to us. And the conversation should have gone something like this
"Hi I am here to get my cedula"
"Aren't you a little old to be getting a cedula? Do you have any documents?"
"Yes, yes I am, and no I don't have documents."
"Okayyy, are your parents alive so they can serve as testimonies?"
"Only my mom, who lives in the city."
"Okay bring your mom here and we can get it done."
Pretty normal, makes sense. But of course Africa doesn't make sense and this government guy was perhaps the rudest, least understanding and corrupt person ever. During the short chat he insulted our friend, insulted us, and insulted the church. And while he gave us the same information, that the mom needed to be there, he did it in the most rude way possible. Both Elder Candido and I wanted to punch him, but through our immense patience (and humility) we let it slide. As we left, our friend was very optimistic, laying out plans to call her mom and get her there the next day. However, we found out that it wasn't going to be possible and that their marriage process would be on hold for a bit.

Anyway, the rest of the week was pretty alright. We had a solid baptism on Saturday, all the investigators and members showed up on time, but this time the leaders showed up late. But it worked out alright.

This next is transfers, I should be staying, seeing as how I have only been here for 3 weeks. But President has done a lot of weird stuff recently so anything is possible.
