My Feet Are Wet

Welcome back, did you miss me? No, oh that's alright, I'll tell you about my week anyway. Well, it rained two days this week but when it did rain it rained a lot. And because of the rain my feet got wet.

So, early on in the week we were biking and Elder Cavalcante decides to stop and talk to some random guy sitting at his house. We got his number, gave him a pamphlet and marked a time to visit him. We show up and the lesson was really good. He read the pamphlet, understood it, had good questions, it was great. I love people that study and understand. He probably will progress super well.

Thursday it rained, and it rained a lot. But I was smart and used my boots. We would get to someone's house and it would start dumping rain, we would teach and then wait a little and then the rain would stop long enough for us to get to our next lesson. It certainly made teaching very interesting.
Now when it rains in Quelimane it floods just a little. And normally this isn't a super big deal but when it rains a ton it also floods a ton. This doesn't really effect any of the main roads but a lot of the neighborhoods fill up with water. Most of the time it just means that we have to bike through some puddles. Sometimes the puddles are really deep and sometimes they have mud so you will bike into them and halfway through you hit a mud patch and stop. And when you stop on a bike you will fall so you have to put on of your feet in the water to try and get out.
Anyway, Friday morning and I decided to use my regular dress shoes because I thought there wouldn't be too much water. I was wrong and got my feet soaked in a puddle. But it was alright because I had another pair of shoes and socks that I changed into during lunch. Then, we went to work again, and it was going well until we were going through a puddle and my bike hit some mud and my bike stopped and my feet got soaked. In one day I had gotten all of my shoes mucky and my feet were wet all day.

The next day I used my boots because they were my only dry shoes. The day was going pretty good and we went to visit a group of recent converts and their entire neighborhood was just flooded. I stood by the shore and thought to myself "how did I get here, I'm in the middle of Africa teaching people about Christ and was going to teach a family but their entire neighborhood is filled with water." I had never had this problem before. But after a few minutes one of the family members comes trudging through the water and we were able to talk to him for a little bit. Africa never ceases to surprise me.

That's it for this week, thank you for your attention and have a great week.

Sincerely,
Elder Andrew McDonald
