The Return of the King

We'll I have returned. To where? I suppose it depends, I have returned again to write another email, once again establishing a tiny connection between me and the outside world. But in a more physical sense I find my self once again in Nampula. Indeed Nampula, where I have spent roughly a 1/3 of my mission, a stunning 5 transfers in one area. And now I am back. Indeed the "king" of Nampula has returned.

However, this week did not start in Nampula but in Quelimane. In fact only Sunday was spent in Nampula. Work in Quelimane was solid, we have a solid group of people working towards baptism and we were able to help all of them make steps to being ready.
One such group are the four brothers of a member, who normally lives in Beira but is Quelimane for now. They all are super cool and are interested and are showing up to church. They are pretty sweet (plus one of their names is Babilonio which means Babylon).

Another thing we worked with quite a bit was helping our couple that will get married with some of the organization stuff. For example the bride, asked us to wash the wedding dress in our washing machine. All in all, it should be super sweet.

And now, Nampula. First off the plan was to travel on Saturday but when we showed up on Friday to buy tickets at 10, we found out they were already booked. So the other Elders, who live closer, woke up at 4 the next day to wait and buy tickets as soon as it opens. And no you can't reserve tickets nor do they have a website to do it on. You HAVE to buy them the day before and they start selling tickets at 5, so it was a bit of a trip.
Because of all that hassle we left bright and early Sunday morning (at 4, though we woke up at 2) and got to Nampula at 12. It was a long trip but it was cool. We got to see a lot of the Mozambican country side which is mostly fields and mud huts. And like well and proper mud huts, no power, mud bricks, grass roof, everthing. It was interesting to see. It reminded me just how many people there are here and how primitive many of these people live. At a lot of the bus stops people crowd around the bus with fruits, drinks, snacks and much more with the hope of selling something to a hungry passenger. It was pretty crazy.

When we got Nampula we headed to my old house, the Napipine apartment. For those who need a refresher its kinda like a hotel room, is nice and has a couch. That afternoon we worked a little in Napipine and I saw a lot of familiar faces. It was really cool to surprise a lot of people I had worked with. A lot of them have grown a lot and doing some incredible work. It honestly made me really happy seeing how much these people have grown. It was super cool.
