Spider Man and Venom

We meet again, once again it was a magnificent week here in Mozambique. We have received many mangos. We are consuming the mangos. We love the mangos, we admire the mangos. Mmmmmmm Mangos.

This week on the way to one of our lessons we passed by a group of kids and one of them was dressed up as spiderman. He was talking to his friends and telling them in English that "my name is Peter Parker." Then seeing us he ran up to us and we asked him "are you Peter Parker?" And he said "Yes." And then he proceeded to show us his Spider Man pose. So after marveling (pun intended) at this kids cosplaying we continued to our next lesson. Well, this isn't where the story ends. We walked back the same way and the same group of kids were there. Then from the house we heard someone yell "espera para mim, espera para mim!" (Wait for me!). Then the same kid from earlier runs out this time in a black venom costume. And says "Now I am Venom!" and we said "What happened?" and he said "Yes." Then he proceeded to show off his new super powers, super strength by picking up some child that was walking by. We were impressed. It was a wonderful opportunity to have met both Spider-Man and venom. Truly spectacular.

Well on Saturday a few things happened. We met a few new people to teach and some seem pretty cool. But as we left one of our lessons we saw a motorcycle slide out and crash. Both riders were scrapped up but both were fine. They were all pretty chill about it and a lot of random people showed up to help. Anyway it was over pretty quick but it is the craziest accident I have seen here in Mozambique which is ironic considering how lawless the roads are and how reckless people drive. Later that same day we were walking down a road and there were just some dogs chilling on the side of the road. Well an old scraggly dog randomly started barking at a motocycle as it was going by, then as I walked by shortly after the dog started barking at me too. Then as I continued walking by the dog's friends got up to and started barking at me too. They were pretty upset at me walking by I and I was a little worried that they were going to bite me. But nothing really happened and we kept on walking. It was also very weird because the street dogs here in Mozambique are usually super chill and just want to eat trash and only get mad at people that throw rocks at them. So it was an interesting day.

It was a great week. We had five baptisms which is the most baptism I have had in one day since when baptisms first opened here. They are all super cool, and it all ran pretty smooth. Dondo is just great. And of course transfers are coming up and I have a pretty good guess that I am leaving. So I'll just have to make the most of it.
