Early Mango Season

Some rain has fallen this week and some people are planting rice. In a few months the rice will be ready for harvesting. The people love the rain, not because its calming or fun or different, but because rain means growth. The crops aren't going to water themselves and a dry year means longing growing times. And long growing seasons means weeks or months with little food. Rain is life here. And that's why I bless the rains here in Africa.

Wow the weeks are going by fast. We are somewhere in the middle of the transfer and it is going pretty well. We are baptizing a lot of people so we are working to find some new people and to keep on helping with our recent converts. So far it's going well.

A lot happened on Wednesday. We had lessons with two new people and both are super cool (one gives me weird vibes because he seems almost too cool). Then we walked a bunch and had a lesson fall though (and of course it was the people that live super duper far away). But after a ton of walking in a beautiful part of our area (that we had never been to before) we were able to meet with someone else. Then we did even more walking to get to our last lesson just to run into her while she was going to buy some vegetables. So we went and got the vegetables with her, which was in the other Elders area (and they of course walked by while we were there). Then on the way back to her house a muslim kid on a bike stopped to talk to us a bit (which was a little funny). Then after all of that we had our lesson and went home.

Friday was just exhausting. We planned our day and then almost immediately our lessons started dropping like flies. Everyone we visited was just gone or busy and soon we had exhausted all of our planned lessons and we had walked for about 2 hours and still had 3 more to go. So we dug really deep did some more walking and found some decent people to visit and help. But wow we had to do a lot walking to get there.

Sunday was pretty fun. It was actually the Primary Program. Basically the meeting is run by the primary and children give talks, sing songs and share scriptures. I was very surprised how organized it was and that most of the talks were good. It was pretty funny because basically after every talk everyone laughed because of something said or done. Their was certainly a few amusing hiccups but all in all it was good.

Well, that's all. Bye. (But do read the Addendums)

Small Things of Note:
This week I saw a shirt a guy here wearing a Broomfield Soccer Club shirt. It was crazy because it was literally the exact shirt the coaches would wear on the soccer team when I was younger. Crazy, guess someone donated their shirt.

This next week we have the mission tour. This week and last week we have had hour long devotionals about all the details. Sister Moraes is super stressed about it. It should be good and there is a non-zero chance I will work in the area with Elder Dube.

Also mango season has started and we have gotten tons of mangos, and they are good.
