What's Hotter, Elder Adams New Clothes or Our Power Box?

It's crazy, but the week is already over. It is likely this will be a reoccurring theme just how fast these weeks are flying week.

This week we really went all out on our lunches. Everyday we had something very different and every lunch was really good. My favorite was Thursday when we made mashed potatoes, turkey and gravy. It was incredible. Maybe the best food I have made here. It really made me miss food from the states, but for the time being I am enjoying the opportunity to cook and eat a lot of chicken and rice.

Friday was nuts, we were eating lunch when we heard a noise and then the power went out. Shortly after some people outside started shouting (which isn't uncommon). Then Elder Adams looked out the window and said "our power box is on fire." And sure enough, it was. So we went out and watched our power box burn. After a minute the box started shorting and zapping. After another minute it started REALLY burning. It was nuts. Once everything was sufficiently melted the power company showed up to fix it. For Mozambique it was extremely impressive how quickly they started working. While it was burning there was already a worker at the site and once it was safe a whole truck showed up and a worker was climbing up the pole to cut away the broken wires and melted box. Then when we got home that night everything was already fixed and working.

Unfortunately, that isn't where the story ends. No the box didn't burn again, that would be crazy. But, when they fixed the box they gave us a new client number (which we use to buy energy) and a tiny amount of power. Well because it is a new number we have to take to the EDM store (The Mozambique Energy Company) for the first time to set it up. Well the EDM store closes at 2 everyday and is closed on Saturday and Sunday so when we got it Friday night we were doomed to a weekend in the dark.

It stunk, the hardest part was sleeping in the heat. I don't know how an entire country lives like that. But now I think my record for days without power now is 3 (which honestly could be worse).

Sunday was really cool as well, we had a lot of people at church and they later had a meeting with some couples working towards marriage. It was a productive meeting. Then that night we when to Bishop's house again for an activity with the members in the area. It was really fun, we played Mafia and everyone loved it. It was the perfect group because they all took it super seriously and nobody cheated. Bishop loved it a lot, he was probably the most invested out of everyone. It was a great week.
