Walking Really Far (and then people not being there)

What's up? I'm back again.

Work wise things were really good this week. We had four baptismal interviews and all of them passed! Next week they will be getting baptized. We also saw a some success with some of our couples. Two of them are making really strides to getting married. It was super cool and we are working closely with them and our ward leaders to get things moving forward.

Throughout the week we went to visit some people that live in pretty remote parts of our area, and somehow every time they weren't there. One was this couple we met last Sunday who really want to get married and baptized. They don't have a phone so we set up a time to meet them. Well they live super far away. Like they live in some of the last houses here in Dondo. Like after them there is just some farms and then nothing. The area itself is actually pretty interesting but it requires some background to explain.

So Mozambique has a lot of people and not that many cities. So overpopulation in the cities is a big problem. So the government's solution is to send the people in the city to live in the neighboring towns. To help, the government promises to build them houses there. Well the people move and the houses start getting built and then the governor doesn't stay in office. So the houses stop being built and all the people sent there just kinda figure it out. Long story short this area has a bunch of nice (Mozambique terms) but unfinished houses and just a bunch of people living there. This couple is two of the people living there. And long story short we walked there at the time we were supposed to meet them and they weren't there.

Also, this week we had exchanges with our DL again. I still don't really know why he did two with us and only one with the other set of missionaries. Anyway it was good. He is very good at missionary work but he is very serious. He also has served in this area before (his companion too) but we worked in an area he actually has never been too before, so it was alright. We found a ton of new people but weirdly they were all women except for the husband of one of these women. But it was pretty cool because 3 of them showed up to church on Sunday.

Church was actually Stake Conference this week. As such it was pretty different but super cool. First Stake Conference was in Beira which meant that the church rented a giant bus to get everyone here to Beira. It was pretty crazy but actually went really smoothly. First a chapa picked up all the people in Balança at 7:30. Then at 8:30 a bus showed up (like a public transit bus) and all the members crowded in. Once everyone was in the bus was literally packed and I was standing right up against the doors. On the way people sang hymns and it was actually pretty fun.

Stake Conference was really good, they had some testimonies from a return missionary and a couple that went to the temple. There was a bunch of cool talks mostly about serving others and living the gospel. Afterwards, we all hopped back on the bus and headed back to Dondo. I was really impressed how many of our friends showed up despite starting a lot earlier and taking a lot longer.

Anyway I think that is about it. This week is the last full week of the transfer and next week is transfers. So hopefully this next p-day I will know what will be happening but with the current track record, I probably won't. Well, the week was great, Church was good, stay in school, don't do drugs and have a good week.

Bye.

Also a member we gave sacrament to (because he is old and blind) died this week. So now if I had a nickel for every time a member I talked to died I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice.

Also I know I have a lot of pictures of big grassy fields but I just like the space and beauty.
