Hype Squad

Dear Friends,

I have really been enjoying this transfer so far. I am in a new area, the ward is cool, Elder Mateus is pretty cool, the other Elders in the apartment are fun, we have all been out on the mission for about the same time and it feels like everything is going well. It's been nice not having to train a new missionary. This leaves me to be able to just work and have fun. Will I run into more problems, certainly, but for now things are just going good. I might even say... things are pretty hype.

On preparation day we went with a member to a garden/zoo place. It was well maintained and way cheaper than Mount Nairucu. The zoo was pretty neat, it had a lot of birds as well as some big crocodiles and monkeys. There was a lot of different kinds of birds and they were some pretty ones. It was fun and I definitely want to go back eventually.

This week was also pretty special because we had zone conference. It was nice and it was pretty different because it was in Beira at the Mission President's house. It was my first time at President's house since Christmas and it was fun. It was a good zone conference and we talked about a lot of good topics. Not very much was new to me but there was still a lot of good reminders and still many things I want to improve. It was also fun getting to see a different group of missionaries including Elder Adams, my comp from the MTC. It was crazy actually getting to see and talk to him and some of these other missionaries after so long. The Nampula zone is the only zone that doesn't meet in Beira so I was pretty isolated from the rest of the mission. Not that I really see missionaries from other zones (especially out here in Dondo) but at least I am closer to everyone else. Anyway zone conference was good.

The rest of the week was solid, we did some good work and Sunday was pretty cool. We had exchanges with our zone leader which was pretty fun, especially since it was a fast Sunday. I don't know why but since I have gotten here there have been any super crazy interesting stories. I am working to learn the area and the people and nothing to interesting has happened yet.

I don't know why but Elder Coelho (a roommate) and Elder Mateus use a lot of slang including some familiar ones from America such as "hype" or "sua mae" (your mom). It has been pretty funny.

So, have a good week, I'll "see" you next time.
