Boom Roasted

Well another week has passed. We worked hard as usual, and turned another potential into a friend which was nice.

We had interviews with our Mission President this week and it was... interesting. At the beginning of each interview our President asks if we have any questions and I asked him what we should do in our area, explaining that we have worked through all of our people formerly taught and less active members. Somewhere in that conversation he thought I wasn't happy working in Ashton Park and wasn't motivated. So, he started roasting me for it. He started calling me out for being discouraged (which I am not) and told me I would be staying there to fix the area. However, during this unwarranted roast session he did give a lot of great advice on how to work with members and what I should be studying each day. After all that I had another interview with the Mission President's wife, Sister Zimmerman. She spent the entire time just giving me a pep-talk and it was nice. The best part is that after all of that President invited me back in to apologize and to tell me that he cared about me. This interview was by far the most interesting yet. I always get a lot out of these interviews and this was no exception. It was rough getting roasted for something I wasn't doing, but I think it was still a positive experience.

This Sunday Elder Craig and I gave a training to the ward on member missionary work and it was great. Several members shared their witness and how they had seen missionary work help them. The spirit was super strong and Elder Craig and I led a great discussion. Hopefully this will help motivate the ward and we can see the blessings of member missionary work. At the end a member of the ward came up and complimented how good our presentation looked. It made me happy because I made the presentation (Elder Craig isn't too good with computers). Also some members including our bishop came up and told us how well it went and how strong the spirit was. We actually didn't get to cover our entire presentation but what we did share was very good.

So we made another friend. He is still super duper early on and he is only a friend because we have taught him twice but he is pretty cool. He is a very factual, philosophical and intelligent, and he loves to talk with us. What was crazy about it was that he doesn't even feel comfortable praying. The only thing we could commit him to is reading a chapter in the Book of Mormon. It was still a good lesson but it is always an adventure with him. He has read A LOT of philosophy books and he loves using them to bring up some of his points. They are some pretty cool and very enlightening discussions.

That was honestly it for this week, I have been leading out discussions more and more and speaking up so I can get used to it. It still isn't easy and I struggle in lessons a lot. Things I know quite well suddenly don't come to me when I teach. But, I am working on it and change comes slowly. I know I can get there, I have the tools I need. The gospel and Jesus Christ have helped a lot. Knowing that I can help him and overcome my weaknesses brings a lot of comfort. The journey is tough and long but I am getting better everyday.
