Conference Spoilers

Hello again another week has passed and it is General Conference time! Conference on the mission is especially interesting, the crazy part is that you only have four during your two years. It feels like so little. I remember the years of conference I have watched and it feels weird how little you watch during your mission.

Honestly this week was tough for the area, Elder Craig and I are working hard but the area took a solid hit. Two of our friends were dropped and we only have one progressing friend. She is doing well though. We had a lesson this week that did a good job answering her questions and teaching important principles. She has a lot of questions and doesn't always agree, but she still likes meeting. She is still learning and keeping commitments. It is good seeing her progress.

We had our first exchanges of the transfer with the missionaries serving in the Hurley Ward. I stayed in Ashton Park (my area) with Elder Reynolds and Elder Korab. Elder Korab is also in training so it was a fun day. We had two lessons which was very extra-ordinary. They both went well, one we knew we would have to refer but it still was good. In both I did a good job of talking and teaching in unity with my companies. The second was a less-active and she is cool. She wants to get more blessings in her life and so we reinforced the small actions such as reading the scriptures, praying and going to church.

And now General Conference. It was so good, it answered so many of my questions and emphasized many principles needed right now. There were a few talks I really liked. I liked the talk by Elder Nash because it talked all about member missionary work. It is exactly what we are working with the ward with. For similar reasons I liked Elder Oaks talk about going to church. It is such a good message for our less-actives. I also liked the math in Elder Gilbert's. It was fun to see something I understood. Another cool talk was  by Elder Uchtdorf, it is easy and almost second nature to walk in circles when trying to walk in a straight line. However, simple course corrections can realign us and take us where we need to be. We need to do that in our spiritual lives. Strive to take small actions, such as the spiritual CPR I talked about earlier.

Conference on the mission is a cool experience. It is a great opportunity to focus and learn from our modern day prophets. Their guidance is for us, now. Even the scriptures aren't as directly catered to us as the revelation they receive. Learning and growing from them is some of the best things we can do.
