4 More Years, 4 More Years!

This week we got transfer calls and Elder Craig and I are staying! This coming transfer is seven weeks long so it will be longer than normal. It reminded me of a crowd supporting their mayor "four more years, four more years!" meaning that they want the mayor in office for another four years. But for me it is more like "seven more weeks, seven more weeks!"

Anyway this week was alright, our only non-member we were teaching dropped us, we haven't made any new friends in weeks, and we only have one less-active we are teaching. Yahoo. It is defiently a struggle but with faith and hard work we will get there.

We had an incredible dinner with some members. First off we had some really good ribs. Then we had a great conversation. One of their kids is in the online MTC learning Dutch! He is going to do some good stuff. He has grown a lot since getting his call. The best part was at the end when the father of the family started sharing about why he joined the church. He saw missionaries helping people and thought it was so incredibly selfless and wondered why any would do that. He explained over and over again that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has something special. It gives a sense of belonging, it gives purpose and helps you help others. It is selfless, because Christ is. He talked about all the rich people in our area and how they are content with their lives but missing purpose. They simply exist and don't have direction. The church gave him that direction. The faith and testimony come along the way but the love and purpose is what drew him in.

It was exactly what we needed to hear. Honestly we were both a little discouraged and it was the perfect pep talk. The work is hard, but every day we work to set an example. We are disciples of Christ, we are here to be selfless and caring. We are literally spending two years to do this work. The result matters little. If I do my part and let my light shine, then I am doing my part.

This next transfer I will no longer be training, I still have a lot to learn but I hope to improve. I want my light to shine forth so I can help those in need. It wont be easy but I know with God's help I can do anything.
