The Happiest Man in the World

Welcome back to tonight's special broadcast, "what's happening with Elder McDonald?" Well, not too much. The most eventful thing is we had a mission tour with Elder Cordon. He is so cool, that he has given a talk in General Conference. It was a really cool experience. I took a lot of good notes from it so hopefully I can learn a lot from what he talked about.

My favorite part was at the beginning, his wife was talking about his family and how his son in law was the happiest man in the world. She had started to move on when Elder Cordon walks over and interrupts to explain why his son in law is so happy. He explains that when he was called to be a general authority his son in law got his house, his car, and his daughter!
The rest of the conference was great, he taught many cool principles and helped answer some of my personal questions. It made me realize where I was and what I needed to change. Every missionary there had something they could learn from it.
Lunch was also really good. It was rice with a meat gravy, with a salad on the side. The funniest part was when I sat down for lunch I moved over to talk with an Elder I knew. And while I was sitting, suddenly Elder Shummway, an Assistant to the President sits down next to me and a couple minutes later, President Zimmerman is sitting across from me. To put this in perspective this is similar to having your boss, and your bosses boss sit down next to you at lunch. And they start talking with me about my family and the area I am working in. It was nice and very helpful but not what I was expecting for lunch.

The work continues to move forward, this week not too much happened, we had to stop teaching Ryan because we haven't been able to meet him. He has desire but we can't even teach him. The rest of our work was slow. It has been good but not too much has happened. Still everyday we plan and stay busy. We move forward with faith and determination. We know the work is hard and often unsuccessful. It is the effort that counts. Hope was a big topic I latched onto from the mission tour. It can lead us to do so much, it can bring constant peace to our lives and help us have constant determination. I love hope. I am working everyday to find more hope in my life. I love the work here and learn more everyday.
