It Rained! (Briefly)

This week was a good one, the most notable change is that Elder McCabe is gone and Elder Craig is here. He has been out 15 months and he has a lot of great experience. Already we are making real headway to making a new ward mission plan. We really, really need the ward to be more excited about missionary work and this is the way to do it. Hopefully it will work well. We have already met a lot of the awesome members of the ward. We also already have some new potential friends. Elder Craig is great. He is from Florida but is far from southern. He says he really likes the humidity but that is crazy so maybe he is joking.

Elder McCabe is far from gone though, he is now serving as our zone leader with Elder Corbin and Elder Ammons. This week we had our zone kickoff which was quite fun. Elder McCabe is already doing great as a zone leader, he is excited, sets a great example and leads effectively. The kickoff went well too. I learned a lot of principles to be effective. Plus there was pizza.

We took our friend Ryan off date, it was a little sad but when Elder Craig met him it was pretty clear that his life was too crazy for him to be a solid convert. I learned an important lesson out of that. Ryan has a lot of desire but he is far from ready. We were getting a tunnel vision of sort where we were so ready for a new convert that we were missing how unprepared he was. It was a very good lesson to learn now rather than pay for it later.

So it rained this week. It was literally the first time it has rained since January. We were in a member home and it was a solid storm, lighting and all.

We had a cool miracle. We stopped by a less-active who we were kind of sure had moved. Turns out they had moved but the lady who answered was interested in our message and agreed to a return appointment. It was neat. We got a few other return appointments this week as well.

It was a good week, we work hard together. A big thing with working hard is it isn't necessarily effective, but, it often leads to being more effective. When coupled with diligence and being led by the Spirit hard work can be turned into great results. We are pushing the area in a good direction and hopefully we can both work to be more diligent and magnify our work.
