The First Letter From the Mission Field

The title is the name my companion suggested when I asked what I should call my first letter in the field.

The mission field is very different than the at-home MTC. The work so far has been nice but mostly uneventful. We passed off a deaf friend (person we teach). She was really nice but since we don't know ASL we needed to the pass her off. We aren't currently teaching anyone so we have been doing a lot of contacts and visits with people who are interested in hearing our message. A lot of people were busy or not at home. We did have some good contacts but no committed appointments. It was pretty nice but a little slow.

This week we had members feed us dinner every day which was really nice. It was a great opportunity to meet and teach in a forgiving environment.

Now my companion/trainer/dad. His name is Elder McCabe and he is pretty cool. He is from Louisiana and has a subtle southern accent. He is the District Leader and has been in this area for about 3 months. He loves missionary work and God's atonement. He has a strong testimony of the gospel. This Monday which is our preparation day (free day) he spent 2 hours cooking gumbo and it was really good.

Now some administrative notes, if you want to send mail or a package send it to:
Elder Andrew McDonald
8267 Deseret Ave.
Fair Oaks, CA 95628

Editor's Note:
Elder McDonald is serving in the Ashton Park Ward, in the Sacramento California East Stake. He does get the opportunity to do service every week with some members of his Ward.

Elder McDonald's email and mailing addresses are also listed on the side in the Contact Me! section. The mailing address will be the same while he is in Sacramento, and his email address will be the same for his whole mission.

Here are a few pictures the Mission sent us when he arrived on Tuesday, July 27th, 2021.
